These are devices that sense smoke, heat or flame and detect the fire at its beginning in order to combat the fire and evacuate the site before the fire spreads. To determine the correct and required type of detector, the following must be determined and known:

- The type of fire that may occur (cables, flammable materials, etc.).

- The geography of the place, such as the height of the ceilings and whether the place is closed or open.

- The surrounding conditions, such as the normal and expected temperature and humidity, and whether there are strong air currents in the area or a strong magnetic field, is it exposed to vibration or shocks...

- The type of activity practiced in that area and whether the materials used can affect the performance of the detection devices (such as materials that give off vapors, gases or radiation, and whether there is noise or loud sounds, etc.). After knowing all the above, the type of devices suitable for the place where they are to be installed can be determined
